Thirty Park Place

At Home with Roto

The 30 Park Place playroom, designed by one of the nation's leading design firms, is where the building's youngest residents can let their imaginations run wild.

“These projects feature numerous original experiences, blending arts, culture, and technology to provide children with open-ended paths of discovery about the world and themselves.”

From the yoga studio to the private screening room to the spa, 30 Park Place is filled with great leisure and recreation spaces for its adult residents. The building's youngest residents, however, have a playroom so cool, it might make the parents a little jealous.

Roto, one of the country's top design firms specializing in highly immersive experiences, put a tremendous amount of thought and expertise into the unique space. In addition to 30 Park Place, Roto's credentials include some of the world's most notable children's museums, like PlayWorks early learning center at the Children's Museum of Manhattan and signature designs for the National Children's Museum in Washington, D.C.

"These projects feature numerous original experiences, blending arts, culture, and technology to provide children with open-ended paths of discovery about the world and themselves," says Roto CEO and president Joseph Wisne. Roto designs can also be found throughout the world in retail and brand locations, museum exhibitions and entertainment attractions, and zoo and aquarium experiences.

For 30 Park Place, Roto created a museum-worthy, whimsical space unlike any other, inspired by travel and adventure.

"We wanted the kids to let their imaginations run wild," says Roto senior designer Caroline Petitti. "This intimate space allows for highly repeatable experiences, most notably the interactive magnet walls."
For the room, Roto created a cast of magnetic characters and props that children can combine into scenes to show the most outlandish travel adventures they can conceive.

The hundreds of custom illustrated magnets range from animals to vehicles to travel props, hailing from outer space to the depths of the jungle.
"The interactive walls provide an ever-changing backdrop, as the playroom also offers a space to host small private birthday parties or playdates, a dress-up space, and a teepee retreat," she adds.
